Useful websites that helped me make my Magazine

There were a number of useful websites that helped me make my magazine as real as possible and helped with small and big aspects.

this website helped me with my chosen photos as I used it to put nice filters on them to make them stand out more.

Another useful website I used was called myfonts.com and I used this for my masthead and slogan on my front cover

However I edited my masthead a little on photo shop to make it more eyecatching

Making my magazine logo

Below is the construction of my magazines logo. It is placed at the top right hand corner of my magazine and I did it on Photoshop.

Firstly I selected the circle tool and made a circle.
I then chose a textile for the circle to make it look more appealing.
after choosing  textile I selected a tool which allowed me to look at a number of different shapes and I chose two music notes. I placed them in the middle as they represent the music for the magazine. I then went to the text tool and types in the magazines name and slogon and changed the slogon red as it links to the colour scheme.

Making a skyline and barcode

This is a screenshot of the website I used to personalise my barcode to my music magazines name

This is my Construction work for my magazines Skyline that I did on Photoshop

First I selected the rectangle tool and made a long rectangle like a skyline template.
I then selected the colour I wanted it to be and then typed what the skyline message was.
after that I cropped around the text and finished up with a thinner rectangle than before but in fact was just the right size for the magazine.

Feedback of 2nd drafts

This is the feedback I received from my peers on my second drafts of my cover page, contents pages and double page spreads. This helped me to decide on what changes to make and what was attracting my target audience.

First draft feedback

My classmates gave me feedback on my first cover page with the girl band and after reading these comments I decided I was going to change my artist to a solo singer.I was happy with how much feedback I had gained from my target audience and I am going to take this information into account with the rest of my progress throughout my magazine.

Music Magazine Construction- Front cover first draft

This is my first draft for my front cover, although this photo does not match any of the photos I shared on Padlet to be my front cover, I decided that a solo artist would be a better choice rather than a band, my second draft will be including my solo artist but I will be featuring the band in my contents pages and in my cover lines. This is my first draft with the band as my main artists. I was not happy with this draft as I realised I had to take a better look a my flatplans and my images, that's why I decided to change my images completely.

Video of my ideas for my photos and cover page

Above is a video of me stating what artist I am going to feature on my front cover and what else I will be featuring in my magazine.

Music Magazine Construction-Padlet-My photos

I decided to share my favourite photos for each section and receive feedback on them so I could see what the audience wanted to see within the magazine. I used Padlet which is a new software to me and I found it very useful for not only me but for my audience to give me feedback.

I made a photo shoot plan for my Cover and Contents pages and also my Double Page Spread as I will be able to refer back to these when I'm taking my photos.

Double Page Spread Plan:

Music magazine planning- Flatplans

Here I have created flatplans for my magazine as makes it easier when constucting it and gives me an idea of how I want my magazine layout to look like. I have done a flatplan for my Cover page, Contents page and Double page spread. I have also drawn another set of flatplans to get a better understanding of what I want my cover page contents page and double page spread to look like. This also helped me when coming to the design process of my logo.
